In 2022, Catherine Matausch was forced to leave the air and therefore the sets of 12/13 and 19/20 from France 3 for health concerns. “I was on sick leave but I’m back in business this week! I have had health problems, but it’s taken care of” the journalist simply declared. It was only a few months later that she finally revealed that she was fighting lung cancer.
Unlike Florent Pagny who decided to publicize his fight against the disease, the journalist preferred to rely on discretion and was content with simple little reassuring messages like “I’m doing well. I’m better“.
In January 2023, it was in the columns of Télé Star that she spoke a little more on the subject. “I am confident, fighter and in harmony. I had surgery for lung cancer a few months ago. this illness is behind me” she declares. This Tuesday, November 14, 2023, Catherine Mataush was invited to the set of Health Magazine on France 5. The journalist was initially rather reassuring. “I’m doing well” she assured.
The journalist then reported on her current state: “But I developed other inflammatory rheumatoid disorders that can be disabling“. Optimistic, the mother of two girls then explained that she wanted to make the most of her life and “to have projects, to stay alive, greedy, curious, to have this desire to live“. Regarding her lung cancer, Catherine Mataush revealed that she did not think she would one day be affected by this terrible disease even if she was exposed to cigarette smoke for years because her father “smoked Gitanes without a filter non-stop in the car. “I was a crappie for six years when I was young. I didn’t swallow the smoke” she also added.
