(Port-Cartier) A head-to-head collision left one dead and two injured on Route 138, between Port-Cartier and Sept-Îles, on the North Shore, Monday evening.
The motorist who was traveling westbound would have deviated from his lane and collided with a vehicle coming in the opposite direction around 5:30 p.m., according to information from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The two occupants of the first vehicle were seriously injured and transported to hospital in critical condition. The passenger, a 28-year-old man from Port-Cartier, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The driver of the second vehicle, a 58-year-old woman, was also transported to the hospital to treat injuries, but her life is not in danger, adds SQ spokesperson Ève Brochu Joubert.
Route 138 was closed between rue du Viaduc in Port-Cartier and chemin Gérard-Vigneault in Sept-Îles. No detours are in place.
