To prepare for the ADISQ gala

The 45^e ADISQ gala is upon us. Before the evening of November 5, The Press presents you with a short guide to better follow the progress of the great celebration of music.

Why watch the gala this year?

The year has been rich in music. Between the return of Philippe B, the prowess of Alexandra Stréliski, the Philippe Brach UFO or the impactful collaboration between Les Cowboys Fringants and the Symphony Orchestra, there is much to celebrate. ADISQ brings together all these beautiful people and awards these prizes awarded by members of the industry – except those for artists of the year, chosen by the public. At the top of the citations this year, Daniel Bélanger collects six artistic selections, followed by Alexandra Stréliski and Lisa LeBlanc, who each have five chances to win a Félix. Salebarbes, 2 Frères, FouKi and Les Cowboys Fringants follow with four quotes.

Races to follow

The most nominated artists are all found in one or more of the main categories, i.e. the ten which will be presented during the grand gala.

• All could win in the Album of the Year category, where Jean-Michel Blais, Les Cowboys Fringants (twice), Lisa LeBlanc, Souldia, Alexandra Stréliski, Daniel Bélanger, 2Frères, Ginette Reno and Salebarbes are nominated. .

• The battles for the artist of the year prizes, awarded by the public, will be followed, since big names are there. In the women’s category, the old guard and the new guard face off: Ginette Reno, Guylaine Tanguay, Lisa LeBlanc, Alexandra Stréliski and Roxane Bruneau are nominated.

• Same thing for the male counterpart of the same category where we find Daniel Bélanger, Richard Séguin, Patrice Michaud, FouKi and Ludovick Bourgeois. It will also be interesting to see who wins in the hot fight for the prize of author or composer of the year between Alexandra Stréliski, Daniel Bélanger, Philippe B, Philippe Brach, Ingrid St-Pierre and Lydia Képinski.

• In the Indigenous Artist of the Year category, Kanen, Katia Rock, Shauit, Natasha Kanapé and Matiu are in the running.

• Ten titles could be crowned Song of the Year, i.e. We put some light of 2Brothers, It’s not luck by Ariane Roy, Dusk from Heart of a Pirate, New power of Cornelius, I hear everything that’s playing (in your head) by Daniel Bélanger, Matusalem of Koriass, In the juice by Lisa LeBlanc, All the love we give by Marc Dupré, New power of Corneille or Everywhere by Roxane Bruneau.

Spotlight on the revelations

The ADISQ gala is also an excellent place for discovery. In the race for the Revelation of the Year prize, we find Bibi Club, Calamine, Francis Degrandpré, Jeanick Fournier and Kanen, more or less well-known artists, but all worth keeping an eye on. In recent years, the winning artists of this prize have all pursued impressive careers. Among them, we count Hubert Lenoir, Alexandra Stréliski, Klô Pelgag, Philippe Brach, Les Sœurs Boulay, Safia Nolin, Ariane Roy and Émile Bilodeau.

The services

The ADISQ gala is above all an awards ceremony, but it is also an opportunity to see some artists who have marked the year perform in musical performances. The list of performers who will take the stage has something to please: Alexandra Stréliski, Clay and Friends, Daniel Bélanger, FouKi, Ginette Reno, Loud, Martine St-Clair, Maten, Patrick Norman, Pierre Kwenders, Raccoon and Salebarbes will present performances during of the main awards evening. All the artists in the Revelation category will come together for a traditional group number. We are also planning a nod to 50 years of hip-hop during the gala, but the artists who will participate have not yet been revealed. To be continued…

Animation

For the 18^e consecutive time, comedian Louis-José Houde will host the main gala on Sunday. Always very popular with the public, his work at the helm of the ceremony is now a tradition that would be difficult to do without.

Other ADISQ galas

• 1^er November, at 4 p.m.: the Industry Gala, hosted by Claudine Prévost and broadcast on PalmarèsADISQ.

• 1^er November, at 8 p.m.: the First ADISQ Gala, hosted for the first time by Sarahmée and presented live on Télé-Québec. The ceremony will be held at MTelus. The Boulay Sisters, Les Shirley, Ariane Roy, Bleu Jeans Bleu, Clay Scott, Jay Scott, Matiu, Shauit, Shreez and Zach Zoya are expected to perform for this first part of the celebrations.
