The bus that connects Marseille to Aix-en-Provence is a resounding success. What are the advantages ? Response elements.
Every day, 150,000 cars venture to the gates of Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône). The hassle, except for the express bus from the Metropolis ofAix-Marseille-Provence. That day, a bus left Marseille for Aix-en-Provence at 7:45 a.m.. “It’s faster than the train. It’s more regular.”greets a woman. This line is line 50. Here, we see things in a big way with 300 coaches every day and one departure every 5 minutes during peak hours.
Comparison with the train
On board are former motorists exasperated by traffic jams. By coach, passengers are less stressed and go faster thanks to reserved lanes. For the moment, these dedicated lanes are only provided for part of the route. “We save between 5 and 15 minutes on a journey of around thirty minutes”, says Didier Nazincoach driver. Behind the scenes, it’s a precise ballet. The coaches are geolocated during the day, replenished with diesel and cleaned at night. The line is very busy, 3 million passengers per year.
Why rely on the bus when there is a train? The TER is much less competitive. 9 euros per train journey, compared to 7 euros by bus. Around sixty TERs per day, compared to 300 coaches. As a bonus, the train runs on diesel and the journey is a little longer.
