After the bombing of a hospital in Gaza on Tuesday October 17, the American president said he believed the Israeli version. He took advantage of his visit to Tel Aviv to announce that Israel was giving the green light to sending humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
The embrace between the two men is frank and sincere. Upon his arrival at Tel Aviv airport (Israel), Joe Biden was welcomed on the tarmac by the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and Isaac Herzog, the Israeli president. A symbolic visit, to recall the support of the United States for the Jewish state. “You are not alone”, declared the American head of state. This trip comes just hours after the bombing of a hospital in Gaza, which left several hundred dead, according to the Palestinian authorities.
Joe Biden calls for helping Palestinian civilians
The Israeli army claims to have proof that Islamist Jihad is behind this rocket, a version that Joe Biden seems to adopt. “From what we saw, it appears to be a misfired rocket from Gaza by a terrorist group”, did he declare. He then stressed the importance of helping Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip, and asked Israel “to allow the International Red Cross to be able to make visits”.
The Jewish state has agreed to allow humanitarian aid to be transported to the Gaza Strip through the Egyptian border post. The Israeli authorities indicate, however, that nothing will pass through their territory until the hostages are returned.
