Friday October 6, Nicolas Sarkozy was doubly indicted in the context of the affair concerning the retraction of Ziad Takkiedine. “The former President of the Republic intends to defend his honor,” said his lawyers.
Nicolas Sarkozy answered the judges’ questions for more than three days concerning the retraction of Ziad Takkiedine, a Franco-Lebanese businessman, in the context of the Libyan financing of his 2007 presidential campaign. The interrogation lasted more than a thirty hours. This led to a double indictment for “criminal association with a view to committing the offense of fraud on judgment” and “concealment of witness tampering”.
“Nicolas Sarkozy is firmly determined to assert his rights”
Following this double indictment, the lawyers of the former President of the Republic (2007-2012) reacted. “Nicolas Sarkozy is firmly determined to assert his rights, establish the truth and defend his honor”, they responded by press release. The people implicated in the affair of the Libyan financing of Nicolas Sarkozy’s electoral campaign are said to have devoted 600,000 euros to this operation, which they called “Saving Sarko”.
