Emmanuel Macron announced the creation of more than 200 additional gendarmerie brigades throughout France on Monday October 2, or more than 2,000 new soldiers. Asked about the need, Emmanuel Macron specifies that it is a “need for security and order”. “During the first mandate (…) we receivedcreated 10,000 police and gendarmerie positions,” specifies the President of the Republic. “The very concrete variation is that there will be 3,500 more gendarmes on the ground in the coming years (…) during the last 20 years, many brigades have been closed”, continues Emmanuel Macron.
“No security without justice”
“There is insecurity, because there is not enough presence”, explains the head ofEFrench state. For the President of the Republic, this should allow citizens to travel less far. Interroquestioned about the cost of the measure, Emmanuel Macron specifies that “This is part of the 15 billion reinvested in the Ministry of the Interior on the orientation and programming law.” “The sovereign function is a fair investment of the State (…) and with results”, says Emmanuel Macron. “For six years, we have already created 10,000 police and gendarmerie positions (…) but we has increased the justice budget by 50%. There is no security if there is no justice”, concludes the President of the Republic.
