A letter that shook him off his hinges. Faced with accusations of “rape”
And “sexual assault”towards him for several years, Gérard Depardieu
decided to speak. Long silent, the sacred monster of cinema sent a letter to our colleagues at Figaro
this Sunday October 1, 2023 to defend yourself.
“I can no longer consent to what I have been hearing and reading about myself for several months. I thought I didn’t care, but no, actually no. All of this is getting to me. Worse still, it’s turning me off”he explains in the preamble to his letter before continuing: “I finally want to tell you my truth. I have never, ever abused a woman. Hurting a woman would be like kicking my own mother in the womb.”

Gérard Depardieu defends himself and assures that he is not “a rapist, nor a predator”
Gérard Depardieu assures him, it is not “neither a rapist nor a predator”and regrets in particular that it is no longer legitimate, while the presumption of innocence remains: “If, thinking of living intensely in the present, I hurt or shocked anyone, I never thought of doing any harm, and please forgive me for having behaved like a child wanting to amuse the gallery. But I’m neither a rapist nor a predator […] To see concert after concert of extremists, without looking, brandishing slanderous signs, defiling, vandalizing, interrupting by screaming the songs of Barbara, this highly feminist woman, is to bury her again. Now I can no longer make his voice heard. In the media court, to the lynching that has been reserved for me, I have only my word to oppose”.
Charlotte Arnould, shocked by the actor’s letter
The day after this letter, Charlotte Arnould, the actress who filed a complaint against the actor to denounce, at the end of August 2018, two rapes at the star’s Parisian home, decided to respond to him. Asked by SHE this Monday, she denounces “a truly filthy message”from Gérard Depardieu. “He defiled me in 2018 and in a way, he continues to do so with words”she curses before denouncing “a new strategy”of communication from the sacred monster of French cinema, who must “feeling cornered with the prospect of a trial”according to his words.
Our colleagues from BFM TV
remind that Charlotte Arnould managed to have the investigation entrusted, in the summer of 2020, to an investigating judge. However, this was classified by the Paris prosecutor’s office in June 2019, underline our colleagues. Since then, many other women have accused Gérard Depardieu in the press for similar facts.
