Laurentian Bank customers are starting to have access again to certain banking services paralyzed by a computer glitch since the weekend.
An outage has been affecting banking services since Sunday morning following what the bank calls a “routine update.”
“This is in no way linked to a cybersecurity incident,” said the bank’s spokesperson, Merick Séguin, during a telephone interview Tuesday morning.
“This is only linked to an internal problem that occurred during a systems update. »
He explains that the bank is working to process and resynchronize transactions carried out over the last 48 hours before it can make online banking platforms fully accessible.
The goal is to have the situation completely restored before the end of the day on Tuesday.
Merick Séguin maintains that services are returning gradually. “ATMs are 100% functional at this time. »
Since Sunday, transactions carried out at ATMs have only been possible on a limited basis. “We could only withdraw money,” says Merick Séguin. He adds that credit and debit cards in stores have never ceased to be used.
The outage particularly affects fund transfers, deposits and online bill payments.
The bank is trying to ensure that customers can have up-to-date information in front of them when banking services return to normal in order to take into account transactions carried out in the last few days.
