The city of Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) announced Tuesday September 19 to cancel a concert by the controversial rapper Médine, scheduled for Saturday in the popular Bagatelle district, citing the lack of security forces that evening, reports France Bleu Occitanie.

According to the municipality, “the police are not able to secure this event”. This concert planned to celebrate the fifty years of the neighborhood center was first authorized last May. The decision to cancel it was taken in August, according to the municipality, before this decision was revealed on Tuesday.

A match at the Stadium the same evening

The municipality cites security reasons “in the middle of the Rugby World Cup, the same evening as the match at the Stadium between Georgia and Portugal”And “in a period when event activity is particularly dense in Toulouse.”

The Toulouse town hall also specifies that this decision was taken in consultation with the Prefecture, while ensuring that it “supports the neighborhood center for the organization of these 50 years, with the provision of a covered stage, furniture, barriers and containers necessary for the organization of this event.”

In August, a tweet from the rapper revived accusations of anti-Semitism against him, when he called essayist Rachel Khan, Jewish and granddaughter of deportees, a “resKHANpée”. The rapper then apologized, citing a “formula not suitable”.
