The unilateral decision of the Plante administration regarding the Camillien-Houde route forces me to ask this question once again: has the City of Montreal elected an ideologue who just respects its “valeries” which allow it to impose its decisions, but not the Montreal value of democracy?
It has been five years since the citizens of the Montreal region rejected Plante’s proposal, but she declares with all the passion of Napoleon that the mountain is a destination. We must then ask this question: for whom? You have to be able to access it. No doubt the Plateau is well placed for access, but we must take into account the fact that the Plateau is part of the city of Montreal, and not the other way around.
A “positive” point is that the homeless will have access to trees, which could protect them a little (less than an apartment) when it rains, so the $90 million is well spent to beautify the “valeries” of Plant instead of building apartments.
