A tragedy was narrowly avoided late Friday afternoon, as a driver crashed her car into an apartment building in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville district of Montreal.
The spectacular accident occurred around 3:40 p.m. on avenue de l’Esplanade, near the intersection of rue Sauvé Ouest.

For a reason still unknown, the driver, aged in her forties, found herself in the opposite direction of traffic, while she was heading east on rue Sauvé Ouest.
A citizen signaled to her that she was not driving in the right lane and the driver continued on her way to violently hit the building.
According to our information, the woman may have felt unwell a few moments before the impact.

His car was almost completely embedded in the building and ended up in a semi-basement apartment.
Luckily, no residents were there.
The driver suffered head injuries that required her to be taken to hospital, but her life is not believed to be in danger.
The entire building had to be urgently evacuated since the structure was said to be unstable since the collision.
