Best new Canadian restaurants: the long list revealed

It is a prize list expected every year across the country. The magazine on the waypowered by Air Canada, has revealed the long list of 30 finalists hoping to win the title of Best New Canadian Restaurant – or at least, to climb into the coveted top 10.

Quebec is the most represented province during this 22e edition with eight restaurants. 9 Tail Fox, Anémone, Bonheur d’occasion, Le Molière by Mousso, Les Mômes and Cabaret l’Enfer represent the metropolis.

Espace Old Mill (Stranbridge East) as well as Melba, in Quebec, complete the list of Quebec establishments that have stood out.

British Columbia and Ontario are doing well with seven nominees, followed by Alberta (3), Manitoba (2), Nova Scotia (2) and Newfoundland (1).

In order to determine this long list, the organization calls on a panel of around forty independent experts (including the author of these lines), across the country, who share their favorites, open between the end from spring 2022 and 2023.

From this pre-selection, a restaurant critic anonymously visits restaurants from coast to coast to establish the ultimate top 10 which will be revealed on 1er November during an evening which will take place in Toronto.
