Morocco’s tragedy teaches humanity a lesson

In the setting of a history that spans millennia, where the splendor of a rich cultural heritage is combined with unparalleled human warmth, Morocco was shaken by a telluric tragedy.

This earthquake, resonating like the painful sigh of the Earth, swallowed up in a few seconds what had taken entire lives to build: destinies, hopes, dreams.

The shadow of disaster

The toll is heavy: thousands of lives lost, as many people injured, and horizons that no longer seem to have limits.

Between the majestic cities of Marrakech and Agadir, hamlets have been erased from the map, souls have seen their world collapse, without warning.

This earthquake, regardless of age, wealth or origin, struck with full force, leaving broken hearts in its wake.

But on this night, Morocco, with its dignified mountains and shimmering coasts, revealed itself to be more than a country: a soul.

Even in this tragedy, Morocco embodies a lesson in humanity and resilience. The outstretched hands of rescuers, the strangers becoming familiar, the echoes of solidarity crossing borders reveal our common strength: fraternity.

The light of unified humanity

It is in the darkness that the brilliance of humanity shines brightest.

Morocco’s call for help was not met with silence. From everywhere, even from nations that disagree with him, voices were raised, reminding us that human goodness transcends quarrels.

In this world woven of unbreakable bonds, no one should face torment alone.

Algeria, in a fraternal gesture, opened its skies to let hope through.

The Red Cross, like a constant star, highlights the magnitude of the task ahead.

Our responsibility, as spectators, is clear: act. Every donation, every minute offered, every shared expertise, every word of hope is a step towards reconstruction.

The aftereffects are vast, but the hope is unshakeable. After the storm comes calm; after the tears, the reconstruction. Morocco, bearer of unparalleled determination, will guide us. It’s up to us to respond to this echo.

If we do it with empathy and determination, we will build, hand in hand, a bright tomorrow on the memories of yesterday.

And this earthquake, as devastating as it is, will be a chapter in an ongoing story: that of Moroccan resilience and global solidarity.

Soon, the joyful echoes of children, the bustle of the markets and the sacred melodies of the muezzins will once again fill the air.

Morocco, like the legendary phoenix, will be reborn, more solid and united than ever.

To my Moroccan friends, I share your pain in these times of dismay. Despite the distance, we remain united in heart and mind.

The pain of one of our homes is felt by everyone, as is the affection I have for this country that I know well.
