Jean-François Roberge suffers from COVID-19

(Quebec) Education Minister Jean-François Roberge confirmed on Twitter Thursday that he is positive for COVID-19. The minister had been placed in administrative segregation since Monday, which explains his absence on Wednesday at the cabinet meeting in Quebec.

“Public Health recommends that I be isolated until December 25 following a positive result for COVID-19, which I will obviously do. I should point out that I have been placed in administrative segregation since Monday, December 13. My family is doing well, ”he wrote on Twitter on Thursday at noon.

Mr. Roberge had however been placed in administrative segregation since Monday. He was also absent Wednesday from the weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers in Quebec. He has had no contact since Monday, his cabinet confirmed. For now, he is doing well, it was said.

The Minister of Education has confirmed the news as Quebec is rocked by a sharp rise in COVID-19 cases. The Legault government must also present new health measures this evening to curb the spread of the virus and slow down the Omicron variant.

Important decisions have to be made about schools. The holidays for several primary and secondary schools begin on Friday, while classes extend until Wednesday.

Prime Minister François Legault, his cabinet and Public Health will announce their decision at the 6 p.m. press conference.
