Before the children arrive

The rental of my IS300 is coming to an end. I would like to keep the Lexus luxury and comfort, but opt for a slightly larger model considering that I will soon have children. My dealer offered me the 2023 BMW X1, Volvo XC40, Audi Q3 or 2023 Tiguan. What do you think and would you have another option?

Elizabeth F.

And why didn’t your dealer offer you the Lexus NX? Reading you, you seem rather satisfied with the product of this brand which, in addition, offers a hybrid version (wired or wireless). The latter is a little more expensive, it is true, but more spacious. You could also choose the UX (only offered with a hybrid engine) or the Lincoln Corsair. Both prove to be more comfortable than the majority of the vehicles mentioned. Among these, the Q3 is undoubtedly the most interesting to consider according to your criteria.

2011 Toyota Corolla

I have a dilemma. I own a 2010 Toyota Corolla that only has 72,000 km on the clock. My mechanic tells me that this car is indestructible! On the other hand, the number of years of use is important. Buying myself an SUV is unthinkable given the cost of purchase. I plan to make a decision in 2024. Should I keep it and pay the repair costs or buy another Corolla?

Claude M.

And why not listen to your mechanic? Take care of the maintenance of your vehicle and this one, considering your low mileage, still has a few good years ahead of it. Enough, at the very least, to allow you to make a more informed decision regarding the energy transition. Currently, the market value of your vehicle is around $10,000 on the market.

2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness

I’m looking for a five-seater SUV with good cargo capacity and four-wheel drive. I drive 24,000 km per year. My current lease is ending (Acura MDX). I hesitate between the Outback for safety and driving pleasure and the Venza which is hybrid. What is your opinion ? Do you have any other suggestions?

Anne R.

Of your two choices, we retain the Outback. More versatile and more enjoyable in all seasons due to its constant-mesh all-wheel drive. On the other hand, the Venza offers much better fuel consumption. You might also consider the Hyundai Santa Fe. This will soon be the subject of a major overhaul, or the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.

Toyota RAV4 Hybrid

I own a 2016 Honda Civic 4-Door with 95,000 km under its belt. I find it uncomfortable and a little low. We are now two people at home. I would like to change it. I’m thinking of a Prius hybrid or a non-plug-in hybrid RAV4 from Toyota. Are these choices judicious and reliable?

MK

The Prius got a redesign in the spring, but chances are you’ll find it “a little low” too. The hybrid RAV4 then appears to be a better choice, but do you need this additional space? Perhaps a Corolla Cross Hybrid could better satisfy your requirements.
