A notable change has taken place at the head of the Ministry of Health. The former director of Elisabeth Borne’s cabinet, Aurélien Rousseau, replaces François Braun, just one year after his appointment.
Under the moved gaze of his predecessor François Braun, the new Minister of Health took office. Aurélien Rousseau knows the premises of this ministry well, he knew them almost empty during the health crisis, when he was at the head of the Agency regional of Health of Île-de-France between 2018 and 2021. Beyond the Covid, the minister knows that he will have to quickly provide answers to an entire health system in crisis.
A profile that does not necessarily convince
“There is an urgent need to have something concrete, an urgent need to have change for caregivers, for those treated, in the various services and medical practices”, said Aurélien Rousseau when he took office. Unknown to the general public, he worked within the offices to several Prime Ministers: Manuel Valls then Bernard Cazeneuve, before joining that of Elisabeth Borne in May 2022. In addition to the crisis in the hospital, the Minister of Health will also have to deal with the anger of city doctors and the sensitive debate on the end of life.
