Like every day, the 11 p.m. news takes a tour of the news broadcast by European television channels. It’s Eurozapping on Monday July 17th.

Spectacular fires ravage Greece, 50 kilometers from Athens. Violent winds and the terrain, which is difficult to access, are hampering firefighters’ operations near the town of Kouvaras. Houses were destroyed by the flames and several areas were evacuated.
In Spain, the mountains of the Canary Islands are also plagued by fires. The situation is slowly improving on La Palma, thanks to more favorable weather conditions. More than 5,000 hectares of vegetation burned and 4,000 people had to be evacuated. While some have already been able to return home, others have lost everything.

Impressive heat in Italy

In Rome (Italy), tourists are not discouraged by very high temperatures. These exceed the 40°C. In the morning and in the evening it is bearable. But in the afternoon, it’s 40°C and it’s really very hard“, testifies a tourist. The mercury should continue to climb in Rome, but also in Sardinia, where it could reach the 48°C and touch the record.
