A 16-year-old girl who was wanted after wandering off from her hiking party has been found after a 54-hour search in British Columbia, according to the New York Post.
Esther Wang was found in Golden Ears Park in British Columbia, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police announced on Friday.
“She is healthy, happy and with her family,” RCMP spokeswoman Wendy Mehat said in a statement.
The teenager had been wanted since Tuesday. Sixteen RCMP teams were deployed to find Esther Wang.
Esther Wang was found around 9:30 p.m. Thursday evening when she returned to the same path she had wandered off from by turning the wrong way. The teenager had a supply of food at her disposal. She found her way back by following a stream.
