The 51-year-old woman injured by several projectiles from a firearm last weekend in Mont-Tremblant succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday.
The victim’s husband, Bernard Devoe, was first charged Monday with attempted murder in connection with the incident.
The 83-year-old with no criminal record is now expected to face murder charges.
The recently married couple were settled at the Sanctuaire du Mont-Tremblant, a rental complex intended for people aged 55 and over.
Melvita Devoe, originally from the Philippines, had just settled in Quebec.
It was around 12:30 a.m. Sunday that the police were called to a home on rue Saint-Roch, in Mont-Tremblant. They found the woman with bullet wounds.
Bernard Devoe was immediately arrested, then met by investigators from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) during the day.
