The fire which broke out on Tuesday in Bois-de-Champ, between Épinal and Saint-Dié-des-Vosges, is not yet fixed, the prefect of the Vosges Valérie Michel-Moreaux told France Bleu Sud Lorraine in a new report drawn up on the morning of Wednesday 14 June.
The fire is still ongoing. It broke out in a house, before spreading through the forest covering 30 hectares. He required “very important means”, explains the prefect to France Bleu Sud Lorraine. Valérie Michel-Moreaux salutes the work of the Lorraine firefighters, supported by firefighters “of the Grand-Est and Burgundy Franche-Comté”. “More than 200 men took turns all night to fight the fire in a particularly steep area, in a softwood forest, and therefore with extremely difficult access conditions”indicates the prefect.
The Vosges prefecture also specifies the “air resources put in place” to fight the flames: Valérie Michel-Moreaux mentions in particular “Dragon 67 helicopter [utilisé] for reconnaissance, and the water bomber which was able to act at the end of the day [mardi] and which will resume its rotations this morning”.
