North Shore | Four children in critical condition after a fishing trip in Portneuf-sur-Mer

Tragedy in Portneuf-sur-Mer: authorities fear for the lives of four children after finding them lifeless near the St. Lawrence River in Portneuf-sur-Mer, on the North Shore on Saturday morning. A man in his thirties is still missing.


Authorities were contacted around 2 a.m. Friday night. According to initial information, a group of a dozen people were fishing along the St. Lawrence River when they were surprised by the tide.

Six people were rescued in time, but five others disappeared. Saturday morning, the four of the children were found by the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) and transported to the CLSC. They are in critical condition and there are fears for their lives, according to the SQ.

A 30-year-old man is still missing. Research is still ongoing in the area. A team of divers is on the scene. The Canadian Armed Forces will come to the rescue. A team of SQ investigators was dispatched to the scene.
