A Ukrainian school built “in three weeks” with a 3D printer

3D printing technology is used to build Ukraine’s first printed school building.

The facility in Lviv, which will house 100 children, is being built using a 12 by 15 meter robot that pours concrete in layers.

“We use 3D printing technology because we can build facilities ten times faster. The huge building is built by a robot that can use traditional concrete and we built it in three days,” says Jean-Christophe Bonis, head of the Team4UA organization behind the project.

“The construction is of course different from what is usually done. What is different is the composition of the mixture, because here the ratio of the components is very different from the ratio of sand, water, cement with which we build in Ukraine, adds Yevgueniï Tioupa, project manager. For us, therefore, it is bizarre and unusual. The structure of the building itself is interesting. »
