Label | Two-vehicle collision leaves one dead

(Labelle) A man lost his life in a collision that occurred overnight from Sunday to Monday, involving two vehicles, in Labelle, in the Hautes-Laurentides.




The emergency services were called to go to Route 117 around 2:30 a.m. According to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), a car which was approaching at high speed struck the rear of a vehicle.

“Following the collision, the lead vehicle mowed down a central cement wall, and the vehicle behind ended up in a wooded area along the road,” said SQ Sergeant Eric Cadotte.

Two people who were in the car that hit the cement wall were taken to hospital, but there is no fear for their lives.

The driver of the other vehicle, aged 43, was also taken to hospital, where he was unfortunately pronounced dead.

An investigator and an agent specializing in accident scene reconstruction were dispatched to the scene to better understand the causes and circumstances of this event.

Route 117 has been temporarily closed; it is now reopened with alternating traffic.
