Fatal accident on the A-30 in Boucherville

A person died in a major accident on Highway 30 after a police chase in Boucherville on Monday morning.

According to information obtained by TVA Nouvelles, the damaged vehicle was stolen in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu during the night, around 4 a.m.

Police initially chased him on Highway 10, then the chase resumed on Highway 30 eastbound.

According to what our journalist Audrey Folliot was able to observe on the spot, the person driving the stolen vehicle would then have mowed down a lamp post before ending his race by a rollover, in the access ramp to Highway 20 East.

The access ramp for Highway 20 East and 20 West on Highway 30 East in Boucherville has been completely closed for at least 5:45 a.m.

The accident reportedly happened around 4 a.m.

The file was transferred to the Bureau of Independent Investigations (BEI) since it would involve police officers from the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu Police Department and the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

Five BEI investigators will go to the scene accompanied by the SPVM, which will act as a support police force.

Department of Transport employees are on site to facilitate traffic.

The section is closed for an indefinite period; it will therefore be necessary to plan an alternative route if you move in the sector.
