A pedestrian died after being struck in a collision involving two vehicles traveling at high speed on Sunday in Montreal.
The victim sustained head injuries and was in critical condition when taken to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The 31-year-old woman was hit around 3:15 a.m. Sunday morning at the intersection of Jean-Talon and Saint-Laurent streets, in the Villeray borough.
“According to initial information, two moving vehicles had a high-velocity collision. They would have hit a pedestrian who was near the intersection, ”said agent Véronique Dubuc, spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).
A 26-year-old passenger in one of the two vehicles was also injured. He was injured in the upper body, but was conscious when taken to hospital.
One of the two drivers was arrested for driving while impaired. The man in his 40s was also taken to hospital for an evaluation.
A perimeter was erected to protect the scene.
“At this time, the movement of the vehicles is uncertain. The investigators will try to shed light on the causes and circumstances of this collision,” said officer Dubuc.
