News and activities for the month of May not to be missed.

Party pizza

For a third year, pizza lovers across Canada will be able to take part in Pizza Week, fromer to May 14. Once again, dozens of restaurants in Quebec will be offering a pizza specially designed for the festival during this period. And creativity will be at the rendezvous, with savory (or sweet!) creations of all styles, from classic versions to others more gastronomic, surprising or gargantuan. Festival-goers will be able to vote for their favorite pizzas, tasted in establishments or delivered to their doorstep. Visit the festival website for more information and to register. And enjoy your meal !

Sweet ball for a good cause

After a three-year hiatus, the Sweet Ball will make its big comeback on Saturday May 6 at Arsenal Contemporary Art. Organized by the Young McCord philanthropist, this vibrant benefit evening will bring together more than 700 young professionals around a program combining musical performances, an open bar sponsored by the Montreal Distillery and a ton of treats. All proceeds from the event will enrich the Museum’s educational programming and make it more accessible to more than 10,000 school-aged children. It is still possible to register!

Featured Quebec ciders

From May 4 to 14, Quebec cider producers will meet gourmets at the 7e Quebec cider week. For 10 days, enthusiasts and curious people alike will be invited to take part in a plethora of activities in local cider houses, bars, restaurants and retailers: tours of facilities, launch and tasting of new products, terrace openings, menus specials, events for cyclists. Quebec cider will be celebrated in all its forms and flavours.

Y viva España

A unifying dish par excellence, paella has excellent ambassadors in Quebec, such as the Raposo family, both specialists in giant paellas and founder of ready-to-cook Paella Marisol. The 1-2-3 olé range (ready in 3 steps), which can be found on the company’s website or in grocery stores, includes the dry base needed to make paellas with chicken, seafood or vegetarian, for two to four people. It is also possible to succumb, in the same form, to the Fideua, a typical specialty of the Valencia region, consisting of vermicelli cooked in fish broth. A great meal idea.
