A normal resumption of service on the green line of the Montreal metro was announced late Tuesday night by the Société de transport de Montréal (STM).
In a brief message posted on its website shortly after 5 a.m., the STM explained that after verifications had been made by its experts, it was considered safe to resume service between the Lionel-Groulx stations in the south-west. west of Montreal, and Frontenac, further east.
The stations that were affected late Monday afternoon by the service shutdown are all located in the city center.
The service interruption had been decreed for an indefinite period after cracks had been observed.
At the beginning of the evening, the STM specified that a water leak had made it possible to detect these cracks in the vault in the tunnel between the Berri-UQAM and Saint-Laurent stations, following the evaluation of its team of ‘engineering.
The STM had asked the City of Montreal to divert heavy vehicle traffic between Berri and Saint-Laurent streets, on de Maisonneuve Boulevard East.
