Quebec Premier François Legault has asked the people of southern Quebec to be patient while many people are still without electricity.

“Be patient […] What we expect is that there are only 300 to 350,000 customers left to be reconnected by midnight tomorrow evening, ”he said during a press briefing.
In the early afternoon of Thursday, more than a million homes were still without power, mainly in the greater Montreal area.
Mr. Legault indicated that the Hydro-Québec teams were on hand and could count on the help of employees from other regions that were little or not affected by the ice storm.
“We start with the places that are most urgent, such as hospitals, CHSLDs or RPAs. The workers also focus on the places where there are the most subscribers on the same installations.
In addition, the Prime Minister said he asked the police officers of the Sûreté du Québec not to sanction badly parked motorists because of the work of Hydro-Québec.
He also said that he trusted the municipalities to offer the most adequate services to their population in the current situation.
