An image that marks the spirits: jackets and a bag still hanging from a coat rack on the wall of the third floor of the building blown away by the explosion. In the night of Monday 6 to Tuesday 7 December, the collapse of a building in the port of Sanary-sur-Mer (Var) resulted in the death of a 30-year-old man. At least six injured have been identified, and two people are still wanted by firefighters. A woman and her baby were notably rescued.
The explosion occurred around 3:50 a.m. Many neighbors heard the building collapse. “I hear like a big ‘boom’, I was sleeping, I live right next door. It really feels like a big explosion and we heard nothing more”, says a neighbor. An investigation has been opened to determine the cause of the explosion. A psychological support unit has been opened at the town hall of Sanary-sur-Mer.
