Saudi Arabian GP | Serious accident at the start of the F2 race

(Jeddah) French Théo Pourchaire and Brazilian Enzo Fittipaldi were taken to hospital after their accident at the start of the Formula 2 race of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, the International Automobile Federation (FIA ) Sunday.



“The pilots were immediately taken care of by emergency and medical teams,” it said in a statement. They “were aware and were extricated by the medical teams present. They were transferred by ambulance and helicopter to King Fahad Armed Forces Hospital in Jeddah ”.

After stalling on the grid, 18-year-old Pourchaire was struck from behind by 20-year-old Fittipaldi, who is the grandson of former Formula 1 world champion Emerson Fittipaldi.

The race was immediately interrupted, to start again forty minutes later, then to stop definitively and prematurely after another minor accident and a new red flag.

The start of the Formula 1 Grand Prix, on the same circuit, is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. local time.
