Monteregie | A snowmobiler dies in Sainte-Hélène-de-Bagot

A man in his thirties lost his life at the wheel of his snowmobile after going for a trip Thursday in Sainte-Hélène-de-Bagot, in Montérégie. Relatives, without news Friday morning, contacted the authorities.

The snowmobiler was found Friday morning in critical condition on a snowmobile trail near 4e rank, in this small town located about twenty kilometers from Saint-Hyacinthe.

It was another snowmobiler who found him, said Catherine Bernard, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ). According to initial information, the victim lost control of his snowmobile in a curve and hit a tree. A reconstructionist from the SQ was however dispatched to the scene to better understand the scene.

The man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

About an hour earlier, at 10:30 a.m., relatives of the victim had called the emergency services to warn of the disappearance of this man in his thirties.

A police officer specializing in collision investigation also came to analyze the circumstances of the accident.
