Will food prices really soar in a few days? And should we anticipate and do our shopping full before the end of the month? Journalists from France Télévisions interviewed consumers in Épinay-sur-Seine in the Paris suburbs.
Hurry up. There are only six days left until March. In the Leclerc store in Épinay-sur-Seine (Seine-Saint-Denis), consumers whom journalists from France Télévisions met on Wednesday morning fear that prices will rise further. Laetitia Marangenla, 39 years old, mother of two children, looks closely at the prices of each product so as not to blow up his shopping budget. “We are going to take on our savings, we are going to consume differently, learn to make budgets a little tighter”she says.
790 euros more than in 2021
This part-time mother also fears the increase in the sales receipt for the month of March. “We are already very careful about the shopping budget. We are cutting back on certain leisure activities”, says Manar Berradi. Nadia Madi, 54, executive secretary, who has three children to feed, decided to anticipate soaring prices. The manager of the supermarket has noticed for several days a renewed influence in his store. “Customers are much more on the lookout for prices”, testifies Kevin Boisbunon, manager of the Leclerc store in Épinay-sur-Seine. If the increase reaches even 15%, according to a study, a household will have to spend 790 euros more than in 2021, for the same races.
