McGill will answer questions from Quebec elected officials on violence in sport

After refusing to participate in the exercise, McGill University will finally answer questions from Quebec MPs as part of the parliamentary committee on violence in junior hockey on Wednesday.

The name of the Montreal educational institution reappeared Tuesday afternoon on the agenda of the Committee on Culture and Education. Representatives from McGill will answer questions from elected officials at 4:40 p.m. Wednesday.

However, last week, the university had refused to appear before the elected members of the National Assembly because it “believes [ait] that his testimony would have no added value”.

McGill made headlines in 2005 after a rookie on its football team reported being sodomized with a broomstick by teammates. After an internal investigation, the establishment had put an end to the season of its team.

Further details will follow.
