POINTE CALUMET | A 39-year-old son is accused of insulting the corpse of his deceased mother, which he allegedly left to waste away wrapped in a sheet for several weeks in his apartment.
“Staying in a home with your dead mother, you have to be cracked,” said Diane Malette, resident of the low-income housing (HLM) on Avenue Basile-Routhier in Pointe-Calumet, in the Laurentians, yesterday. Louisette Bergeron’s body was found last Thursday.
According to our information, the body of the 64-year-old lady was discovered by Deux-Montagnes police when a friend reported her missing.
Several tenants met on site by The newspaper had not seen Ms. Bergeron since the beginning of the year.
The deceased lady was lying on the floor of her apartment, wrapped in a sheet, where her son would have camouflaged her all this time.
“A police officer told me that his son would have left the bedroom window open,” said Suzanne Paquin, another resident of the HLM.
“How do you do that to a mother?” asked Solange Carrier.
File transferred
On the spot, where the sexagenarian had resided for more than a year, Danic Laframboise was arrested.
The next day, the 30-year-old homeless man who allegedly took advantage of his mother’s accommodation appeared at the Saint-Jérôme courthouse on charges of contempt of a corpse and breach of conditions.
The division of crimes against the person of the Sûreté du Québec has since taken over the file.
Nothing confirms for the moment that the lady was killed, but the prosecution postponed the appearance of yesterday of the accused. She preferred to wait for “analytical feedback” before.
The autopsy should help determine if another charge of murder could be filed against Laframboise.
In chicanery
In addition, the macabre discovery aroused suspicion among the residents who spoke to her.
“He said she had gone to live with a friend,” said Jane Lebreton, who lives opposite the apartment. He said that his parents had never loved him, that his mother and him did not go together at all. »
“It’s quite upsetting. You ask yourself lots of questions. How come we haven’t seen or heard anything? », Ms. Malette finds it difficult to digest.
Laframboise’s case is due back in court tomorrow.
