Québec solidaire (QS) in turn is calling for the resignation of Amira Elghawaby after being unable to meet the federal envoy for the fight against Islamophobia concerning her controversial remarks about Quebecers.
Ms. Elghawaby informed the political party on Monday that she was not going to meet her representatives on February 20, the date of her official entry into office. This meeting was precisely aimed at determining if she was, according to QS, the right person to occupy this function, indicated the co-spokesperson Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois.
“In this context, Québec solidaire comes to the conclusion that Ms. Elghawaby is not the right person to lead the fight against Islamophobia in Quebec,” he said in a press release.
