“They will come, and they will see that they will be very well”responds the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, to the concerns of some athletes about the lack of air conditioning in the Olympic village. “I have a lot of respect for the comfort of athletes, but I think a lot more about the survival of humanity”, she adds Tuesday, February 7 on franceinfo, more than a year from the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris.

The “first green games”

Faced with these concerns, the organizing committee for the next Olympics was forced to react. Delegations will have the option of installing more powerful fans or renting air-cooling equipment. “There won’t be any need”annoys the former socialist presidential candidate.

The Olympic Village, straddling Saint-Denis, Saint-Ouen and L’Île-Saint-Denis (Seine-Saint-Denis), is currently under construction. He “is entirely made with wooden buildings, with natural air conditioning”, boasts Anne Hidalgo. Air conditioners will be superfluous, she believes, because “Natural air conditioning works very well”. “Everyone will benefit not only from these ideal conditions, but also from these first green games that we are wearing and of which we will be very proud”promises the elected socialist.
