The consumption of olive oil in France is 120,000 tons per year! |
There are three kinds of olive oil:
– Lampante olive oil has a very high acidity rate (over 3%) making it impossible to consume, it has a very unpleasant smell and taste. This oil is used as fuel in oil lamps, hence its name.
– Virgin olive oil has a maximum of 2% oleic acidity, making it pleasant to drink.
– And finally, extra virgin olive oil means that the olives have been cold pressed without undergoing any chemical treatment, just like virgin olive oil, except that its acidity is less than 0.8%! It is therefore this oil that must be favored for a tasty taste.
