(Petite-Vallée) A snowmobiler was seriously injured in Gaspésie, Sunday, and transported by plane to the hospital center of Quebec.
The 25-year-old man allegedly lost control of his snowmobile around 2:30 p.m. before hitting a tree in a wooded area of Petite-Vallée, in the MRC of La Côte-de-Gaspé.
He was accompanied by another man, who was driving his own snowmobile, and who was not injured.
The two snowmobilers were traveling off the marked trails, near the Route du Jeu.
According to information from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the injured snowmobiler was not wearing a helmet, said SQ spokesperson Nicolas Scholtus. Speed could possibly be to blame.
