(Toronto) CTV News chief Michael Melling, involved in the crisis surrounding the unexpected departure of Lisa LaFlamme from the national evening news last August, will be replaced permanently by Richard Gray, who was acting vice president of news .
The move follows an independent review by CTV’s National Newsroom, which was triggered by Ms.me LaFlamme from the position of main presenter.
His dismissal sparked a debate about sexism and ageism within the channel.
The company had to release a statement saying it “regrets” the way LaFlamme’s exit was handled because it may have “gave viewers the wrong impression” that his career was not being fully appreciated.
