New collective agreement | No more supernumerary workers at Information Coops

The workers of the National Independent Information Cooperative (Cn2i) obtain a new collective agreement which abolishes the status of supernumerary and establishes “participatory management”.

The National Federation of Communications and Culture (FNCC-CSN) made the announcement in a press release on Thursday. Seven affiliated unions represent approximately 300 members who work for the Cooperative’s media (The right, Le Nouvelliste, The Daily, The sun, The gallery, The Voice of the East and children’s media The aces of info).

“From the outset, we have completely eliminated the status of supernumerary from the collective agreement in order to regularize the status of all employees,” said Karine Tremblay, spokesperson for the unions, quoted in the press release. “We have improved some salary scales, especially those of photographers,” she adds.

Responsibilities such as the management of newsrooms as well as sales and production services now fall to “work teams”, an approach that aims to offer more flexibility, it is specified.

A post of “participatory management ombudsman” was created in order to “accompany the teams on this new path” and to act as a mediator if necessary. The agreement also incorporates “mechanisms for the diversion of labor relations in favor of dialogue”, can we read in the press release.
