World Cup | Zagreb Zoo gibbon predicts Croatia victory

(Zagreb) Kent, the leader of a group of gibbons at Zagreb Zoo, predicted a victory for Croatia over Argentina on Tuesday in the semi-finals of the World Cup in Qatar, boosting optimism on the Croatian side because the primate has almost always been right so far.

“I don’t remember another time when Kent was so sure of himself in predicting victory,” Croatian zoo boss Damir Skok told reporters.

The 25-year-old monkey had just chosen to eat fruit placed in a cardboard box stamped with the Croatian flag, neglecting the one in the colors of Argentina.

The gibbon also sat in this box, a gesture presented as a sign of the solidity of its forecast. “We are going to the final and I wish Argentina more luck next time,” added Skok.

Kent had already predicted, without much error, the results of the national team at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, where Croatia only lost in the final, losing to France.

Since the start of the World Cup in Qatar, he has only been wrong once, during the Vatreni match against Morocco in the group stage; he had predicted a victory for Croatia when the match ended in a draw (0-0).

For Tuesday, “Kent has given his verdict and… he knows what he is talking about,” concluded Damir Skok.

Croatia and Argentina will try to earn this Tuesday (2pm EST) the first ticket to the final. The second semi-final will pit France against Morocco on Wednesday.
