Eastern Europe | Restaurant Brands will grow Burger King and Popeyes

(Toronto) Restaurant Brands International will grow two of its biggest fast food brands in Eastern Europe through a subsidiary of restaurant operator McWin.

According to Restaurant Brands, McWin’s recently launched Rex Concepts CEE platform has acquired a master franchise and development rights to expand Burger King into the Czech Republic, Poland and Romania and to introduce Popeyes to the Czech Republic and Poland.

Restaurant Brands says McWin plans to open 600 restaurants in the three countries over the next 10 years.

Restaurant Brands International President David Shear said the company is confident that McWin’s strong track record in business development will lead to a successful expansion of both brands into Eastern Europe.

Henry McGovern, co-founder of private equity firm McWin, says the company sees significant growth opportunities for brands in the region.

According to him, after the company acquired BK SEE Poland SA in August, the master franchise and development agreement with Restaurant Brands is the second investment made through its McWin Restaurant Fund.

The agreement “demonstrates our commitment to helping brands reach the next level with operational excellence as we unlock long-term sustainable value for the customers, employees, communities and local economies where we do business.” , McGovern said in a statement.
