(Montreal) Montreal police are investigating an assault with a weapon, where a man was attacked by several individuals.
The attack occurred around 1:15 a.m. Saturday morning on Esplanade Avenue, near Chabanel Street West, in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough.
“When the police arrive at the scene, they locate the victim, a 29-year-old man. He was injured in the upper body by a blunt object,” said Constable Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).
The victim was taken to hospital, but there are no fears for his life. A conflict would be at the origin of the aggression, according to the SPVM spokesperson.
“The suspects fled in a vehicle. The scene has been protected for investigators as well as forensic identification technicians so that they can try to understand the exact circumstances of this attack, ”said agent Chèvrefils.
Witnesses to the incident were interviewed by the police. It was a call to 911 that alerted them.
No arrests have taken place. The SPVM investigation is continuing.
