Snow complicates morning rush hour

(Montreal) The first snowfall that fell on southern Quebec on Wednesday morning complicates the morning rush hour.

In Grenville-sur-la-Rouge, Highway 50 is closed in both directions, between Chemin Kilmar and Chemin Scotch, for an indefinite period.

According to Quebec 511, which monitors the state of the Quebec road system, the closure of the highway is due to a pileup involving six vehicles.

Moreover, in Laval, an accident on Highway 15 northbound could also complicate the lives of motorists. The incident, which occurred near Curé-Labelle Boulevard, would also involve several vehicles. The Ministry of Transport was to go to the scene.

Environment Canada issued several snow bulletins and warnings for the southern and eastern regions of Quebec on Wednesday morning.

In Montreal, 5 to 10 centimeters of snow were forecast during the day, while accumulations could reach 10 to 15 cm in Mauricie and 15 to 20 cm in the Quebec region.

Snowfall can reduce visibility and grip on the roads, prompting Environment Canada to ask people to adjust their driving.
