The movement of contestation born from the refusal of compulsory vaccination for caregivers has turned into a social crisis. Friday 26 November, the GIGN had to intervene in front of the young people.
Fifth night of violence in Martinique. The face-to-face is increasingly tense between the police and the rioters. The situation escalated Friday November 26 in the Batelière district in Fort-de-France. Calls for calm remain in vain. The gendarmes were called in to disperse hooded men entrenched inback a burnt car. But quickly, the gendarmes received a first shot. The GIGN is immediately called to try to control the shooter.
For the first time since the start of the riots, armored vehicles are mobilized. The shooter was not arrested. Balance sheet: two minor injuries. Several districts of Fort-de-France have seen scenes of looting. A vocational school of Lament has been broken into. A post office was attacked with a construction machine. The shop of a gas station was set on fire by looters. The fire was put out on Saturday morning.
