Trial of Paul Haggis | The jurors begin to deliberate

Jurors began deliberating today in the civil trial against Oscar-winning filmmaker Paul Haggis, who is charged with sexual assault.

Posted at 1:54 p.m.

During the trial, which is taking place in New York, the jury heard three weeks of testimony. Haggis and his accuser, Haleigh Breest, spent days on the witness stand giving their differing accounts of what happened between them on January 31, 2013.

Breest accuses the 69-year-old of forcing her to perform oral sex and sexually assaulting her. Haggis pleads that the report was consensual and that the 36-year-old woman even initiated contact.

The accuser seeks unspecified damages from the writer-director.
