Would the bathroom need an update? Unless it’s the living room that calls for more up-to-date shades… Revisiting the environment in which we’ll be spending the next few months warm is certainly not a bad idea, after all… “Heat” is a word often evoked to describe this 2023 palette which offers us to rediscover comforting hues, soothing shades and classics extracted from nature.
Design trends echo current movements, analyzes the company Dulux, which highlights some of the defining considerations of the last decade, including a drive towards “what really matters”, that is to say our relationship to planet, our well-being and our interactions with others. It’s about taking a look at the elements and observing what emerges as nuances to capture the spirit of the times and how it is transposed into the decor.
Beauties of the natural world emanate airy or aquatic blues, mineral hues, leafy greens, rich browns and warm ochres. Stability and harmony are embodied in midnight blues and milky pastels, while soft, greyish purples display a desire for connectedness.
The 2023 palette draws inspiration from the same places as past years, but is energized with upbeat, energizing shades that invite you to look outward and into the future.

A breath of fresh air
PPG, which produces Dulux, Beautitone and Sico, opts for teal, which marries the invigorating watery tones of blue with the calming side of green. Ivy climbing (DLX1148 -6) at Dulux and Eau de fonte (6156-63) at Sico invite serenity and balance. They tie in marine, rocky, mineral and earthy tones with rich colors like Georgian Leather (DLX1200-5) and Old Wood (DLX1077-4) at Dulux; Ancient Lava (6208-73), Boreal Forest (6167-83), Brown Tobacco (6189-52) and Faux Leather (6068-83) at Sico.
Safe values
Neutral tones occupy an essential place in interiors. It’s a reliable and timeless color like Blank Canvas (DC-003) that Behr sets its sights on. Its creamy white tinged with grey—neither too warm nor too cold—has the effect of good old-fashioned fleece on a decor. Toile de lin is a canvas that leaves room for creativity and is tied to a panoply of colors, but it is “on its X” arranged with warm wood, stone, shades of darkened pink, raspberry red, shaded beige and light brown.
An assumed radiance
Benjamin Moore pushes the boldness a little further than its competitors with an assertive hue. Its orange-red energizes neutral tones and breathes joy into a palette dominated by natural tones. Raspberry Tourbillon (2008-30) is an invitation to bring color back into one’s living space and step out of one’s comfort zone. It is supported by saturated colors of green, deep blue, spice and charcoal that add character to the décor, including Wengé (AF-180), Cinnamon (2174-20) and Starry Night Blue 2067-20.
Cocoon tones
Halfway between pink and creamy beige, Redend Point (SW 9081), by Sherwin Williams, is an intriguing color that makes us feel instantly at home. Inspired by craftsmanship, it is an invitation to take an empathetic and warm look at the world. Its enveloping shade blends with earth and clay colors like Foothills (SW-7514) or Red Canvas (SW-0006).
A bit of horizons
Valspar paints will be available in all Réno-Dépôt stores starting in December with colors that encourage well-being, flexibility and joie de vivre. Paint company trends come in a range of proposals. Valspar steers clear of choosing one, however, and offers twelve nature-inspired shades, including muted shades of blue, green and clay, creamy pastels (including a Soft Violet 4002-3A), warm green ( Flora 5004-2C) and a deep midnight blue (Everglade Bridge 5011-3).
