But this region has several sub-appellations, all offering different styles. One of the most famous is that of Monção e Melgaço, where the Alvarinho grape variety is king. Anselmo Mendes offers us here a very classic example. The nose, of moderate intensity, is delicately fruity, with notes of citrus, peach and orange blossom. A juicy fruit brings roundness in the mouth, very quickly supported by a fresh acidity and light bitterness. The finish stretches on notes of zest and a slight saline impression. To try with a crudo or a fish tartare, cod fritters, a fennel salad with citrus fruits.
