The 66-year-old actress and producer, who has been campaigning for more women on screen for the past 20 years, will discuss her book Dying of Politeness, which looks back on her artistic career and addresses the issue of women’s rights in Hollywood.
The discussion, followed by a question and answer period, will be moderated by Geena Davis Institute Canadian Board Chair, Natasha Gargiulo.
Founded in 2004 by Geena Davis, the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media works with the entertainment industry “to create gender balance, foster inclusion, and reduce negative stereotypes in entertainment media.”
You will have to pay $80 to participate in this meeting that we are promised “intimate” with Geena Davis (all the same cheaper than a Blink-182 concert). The evening will take place at the Main House of Montreal (872, rue du Couvent); tickets can be purchased here: www.eventbrite.ca
A percentage of tickets sold (how much is not specified) will go to the Barry F. Lorenzetti Foundation, which aims to improve access to mental health care in Canada and fight stigma.
